INGREDIENT GLOSSARY

INGREDIENT

EXPLANATION

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract*

Offers multiple benefits, especially for dry, damaged and irritated skin. Aloe is hydrating, soothing, anti-inflammatory and has anti-itch properties.

Aqua

Water.

Betaine

Gently hydrating and occurs naturally in the skin. It’s known as an osmolyte, an ingredient that helps skin adapt to moisture losses and gains, essentially working to balance skin’s hydration.

Niacinamide

Also known as vitamin B3, niacinamide is a very effective skin-restoring ingredient that offers multiple benefits for ageing and blemish-prone skin. Benefits include visibly improving the appearance of enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines and dullness. It helps to repair damage from UV light and environmental pollutants.

Pentylene Glycol

It is a humectant, meaning it binds well to water, making it a good hydrating agent and can assist with the penetration of other ingredients. It also helps improve the texture of skin care formulas and has mild preservative properties.

Glyceryl Caprylate

Medium chain fatty acids and fatty alcohol that works as an emollient (softens skin). It can help improve skin’s barrier so it’s better able to resist moisture loss.

Panthenol

Panthenol is the alcohol form of the B vitamin pantothenic acid. It is able to attract and hold moisture, helping to hydrate skin and improve its look and feel.

Sodium Hyaluronate

Incredibly hydrating. Hyaluronic acid absorbs well into skin and holds water, resulting in skin plumping and hydrating. Salt form (sodium hyaluronate) is more effective than pure hyaluronic acid due to its smaller molecular size and greater compatibility with the skin.

Phospholipids & Sphingolipids

Types of lipids (fats) which have skin restoring, conditioning and replenishing benefits. Fatty acids and triglycerides can help hydrate, replenish skin and lock in moisture. It can also encapsulate a wide range of other beneficial compounds allowing for a better penetration of active ingredients into the skin.

Terminalia ferdinandiana (Kakadu Plum) Fruit Extract, Citrus Glauca (Desert Lime) Fruit Extract & Citrus Australasica (Finger Lime) Fruit Extract

Vitamin C Trio. A unique combination of the water-soluble phyto-active compounds extracted from Kakadu Plum, Desert Lime and Finger Lime Caviar. Contains high levels of Natural Vitamin C and 14 other powerful natural compounds assisting with hydration, de-pigmentation, collagen synthesis, whitening and brightening and the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.

Fucus Vesiculosus (Bladderwrack) Extract

Fucus vesiculosus extract, also known as bladderwrack, is a type of brown algae (seaweed). It is a treasure trove of antioxidants, minerals and all of the essential amino acids and can help defend the skin from daily exposure to airborne pollutants. One antioxidant in particular, known as fucoidan, assists with collagen synthesis and has water-binding properties for skin hydration.

Allantoin

By-product of uric acid, it is an effective skin-soothing and skin-conditioning agent. Allantoin occurs naturally in the body and helps to soothe, heal and stimulate new tissue growth.

Caprylhydroxamic Acid

Helps to improve shelf life keeping product free from fungal and microbial growth. Replaces parabens.

Glycerin

Glycerin is a humectant (a type of moisturising agent that draws water into the skin).

Xanthan Gum

A natural ingredient used to stabilise emulsions and improve texture.

FAQs

HOW DO I USE RESTORATIVE SERUM?

Gently massage a few drops onto freshly cleansed skin morning and night before moisturiser.

HOW DO I FIT RESTORATIVE SERUM INTO MY SKIN CARE ROUTINE?

You can use our Restorative Serum after cleansing and toning, and before applying your normal moisturiser, as our Restorative Serum penetrates the deeper layers of the epidermis.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I USE RESTORATIVE SERUM?

We recommend using it twice daily and when your skin needs the extra hydration boost. This can be reduced down to once daily in the warmer months, or when your skin is feeling well balanced.

DO I NEED TO CONSUME COLLAGEN BEAUTY AT THE SAME TIME AS USING RESTORATIVE SERUM?

Including Collagen Beauty in your diet will get you the best overall results. Consuming collagen provides the building blocks for collagen production from the inside and our Restorative Serum penetrates the deeper layers of the epidermis on the outside to support that collagen production with extra hydration, vitamin C, B vitamins and amino acids. Your skin will always be at its best when it is given what it needs both inside and out!

WHY DOESN'T RESTORATIVE SERUM CONTAIN COLLAGEN PEPTIDES?

Restorative Serum doesn’t contain any actual collagen peptides, simply because it is designed to penetrate into the deeper layers of the epidermis and provide nutrients and hydration to the basal layers of the skin. Collagen Peptide molecules are too large to penetrate this deeply when applied topically. This is why we recommend both consuming collagen and using it topically with skin care products that are designed to work in the outer layers of the skin (such as skin mists, balms and masks). The amazing ingredients in Restorative Serum are supportive of collagen production, making it the perfect companion for ingested collagen, and other topically applied collagen products, whilst also being hydrating, calming, and brightening.
